And, after all, we're talking about a disk jockey here. Who really gives a rip?

I for one do not intend to spend the rest of my life being insulted every time someone says something that I don't agree with. Why be offended by a disk jockey? (Appologies to any DJs in the crowd.) Maybe the guys did look silly. Maybe the disk jockey hates kilts. Maybe his mother didn't nurse him so he has some sort of Oedipus thing going on. Who knows?

And besides, I once volunteered to defend the right of every idiot in the US to say whatever crazy thing he wanted to say because the constitution says he can. Like the old saw, "I may not agree with what you say, but I will fight to the death for your right to say it."

I think boys with their pants below their butts look silly, and there are some who think my kilt looks silly. I'm just glad that everyone here is smart and good looking and has excellent taste in clothing. It's all those losers out there in pants who don't know what time it is.

    It's them, right? It's not me? It's them . . right?

I know I'm wearing a kilt tomorrow, and I don't really care who likes it. Or doesn't.

It is totally excellent to have received a response to an input to a broadcaster. A recognition of listenership is vital to a system that knows it's existence depends on the hearing ear of an interested audience.
Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

Ah You have to take Roland with a grain of salt.

Morrison is spot on with his observations about the station Paying attention to it's listeners. Last year they explained their Celtic Winds show and their
Bluegrass show based on what listeners wanted.

You can actually listen to a Celtic wind right now and till 3pm ET at

Thanks, Nelson - yeah, this went a good bit further than what I had initially meant. While Roland did make the offending comment, my post was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. Had I actually been offended, I would have had no problem calling him or Martin to discuss it (I am a financial and volunteer supporter of the station). He and Roland are both great guys from the times I've interacted with them. Roland is a goof, and a really nice guy, and he really doesn't seem to have a mean spirited bone in his body.

The smilies in the initial post were meant to indicate that it was tongue-in-cheek and that I was really not upset or angry about his comment for a couple of reasons: (1) Alex hit the nail on the head when he said that we really don't know what the video contained; and, (2) even if Roland meant it regarding kilted men in general, so what? He is allowed to have, and express his personal opinion. If his opinion bothers me, that's my problem, and conversely, if my opinion bothers him, it's his. I have developed pretty thick skin in regard to kilting, even here in the land of the Southern Scots, where kilting will simultaneously bring admiring comments, honest questions and rude remarks.

I'm sorry that my post got so many truly upset, had it been something that I really considered demeaning or nasty, I would have been happy to lead the charge in complaining to station management.

I'm very sorry that I failed in making the "lightheartedness" of my original post clear. WNCW is a great station that really cares about its listeners and its communities (it is broadcast in 4 large metro areas by repeater) and I am happy to continue to support them, even if somebody there may not like the way I dress.

    Apologies to all.
