Score! A formal jacket.
It pays to beat the bushes...I phoned a local tuxedo rental looking for a tails coat to modify into a formal kilt jacket and the guy said he had a "waist jacket" that I might be interested in.
...and he was right. My size and $75...which I figured that if I had found a tails coat on ebay used that would be $30-40 and $10-ish to ship and the what a tailor would charge to do a nice job...$75 sounded good.
A few modifications are in order (buttons, formal sporran, tux shirt and tie) but, hey...no bad, eh?
And that's the Tartanweb Campbell of Cawdor that I've never had a chance to post a photo of.
Best

Nice find AA, bit concerned about the satin collar though. It still looks like a tux jacket rather than a formal kilt jacket. Still I would've jumped at it without hesitation.

I really like the way the back comes to a point. very slimming effect. NOT that you need it, of course, AA. Great Find

Great find, and I don't think that any modifications at all are needed! Unless you just have a personal preference for silver buttons, in which case feel free to change them out. But you certainly don't need to -- the jacket looks fine as it is. There is no rule that all formal kilt jackets must have silver square buttons.
And a lot of formal kilt jackets I have seen have satin lapels, as well, so no worries there.
Looks great!

As Matt said the buttons are your choice. The only alteration I see would be to shorten the sleeves a bit to wear with a formal French cuff shirt.
