As Matt said the buttons are your choice. The only alteration I see would be to shorten the sleeves a bit to wear with a formal French cuff shirt.

I probably will just keep the buttons and shorten the sleeves...it's a 42L and I'm ususally a 42R. Have to get a shirt first and see how much it needs to be adjusted...it's been so long since I've had to go to a black tie that I have "outgrown" my last tux shirt...the price to pay for middle-age...

Fortunately, I have some time before it has to be pressed into service...which is good because the tailor that I usually use always does everything at the last minute. I'd love to soften up the lines of the shoulders a little bit but he always talks me out of doing that...I assume that it's a lot of work for him...tell me again why I continue to use this guy?

Good thing, though, that I'll be wearing the kilt with it...I wouldn't want to be mistaken for a waiter or the bartender...although taking over the bar at a formal function might be fun in a gonzo sort of way...

My wife and I were discussing whether or not wearing a kilt to this shindig is going to be appropriate and she said something about whether or not it was "in good taste"...I said, "I want you to think about the person who is hosting this event....do you actually think that you will EVER hear him say, 'Oh, we couldn't do that...that would be in bad taste'?" Gales of laughter ensued.
