Thank Matt, yes, I understand that. For example you kow I really fancy the Columba tartan, but that is a rare one and therefore very costly.
While the Aussie one is new, still, hopefully before long it should not be considered rare, at least in Australia.
OTOH, the 'other' Australian tartan is very hard to get, near impossible.
Al, I have one of Doug's kilts already and know of his work. In fact I mat him when he came down to Tassie for a Gathering.

I'll believe that, he does a lot of miles to promote his business, we see him about3-4 times every year and we're not in his home state either.

Just a thought, try All Things Tartan in Ipswich Qld if you haven't already done so. They do an 8yd 13oz for around $600au, & know their stuff. (They make kilts for the army). Just realised that you've already found Doug's work.
