What's the dumbest thing you ever did?
Well, we've all heard about Panache and the episode where he put liquid dish soap in the automatic dishwasher and flooded his kitchen. Therefore, in that vein and in the interest of "lightning" things up a bit.. Tell us the dumbest thing you have ever done kilted or otherwise.
The only dish soap story I can think of involves one of my grown sons. We went on a family camp-out and he fried the eggs in dish soap instead of oil. Man you should have heard his kids whine

Well let's see.... Y'know how McClef has that gaelic phrase in his signature, with the english translation directly below it? Well, one day in Drafting Skweres was reading the English translation out loud as I was reading the Gaelic portion to myself. Upon his finishing, my reply was simply an astonished... "You can read that?!"

Sorry, EKC, but I think your headbanging incident tops that one. Of course, I can top that. Here's a tale from my high school days:
We had been having some trouble with my old Dodge van. The starter solenoid was finicky and would ocassionally decide to just click and not turn the starter motor. So to get the van started, I would have to turn the key and then jump out and jump the solenoid under the hood. (Really old model- the solenoid wasn't integrated with the starter, it was mounted high on the firewall.) So one day in a great hurry to get into rehearsal, I parked the van, turned the key, and ran inside. Coming out of rehersal, I jumped in the van, turned the key-click. I tried again. Click. I grabbed my trusty screwdriver. I jumped the solenoid and the van roared to life-it seems that the gas pedal had stuck down. What I discovered as the van lurched forward at a high rate of speed, however that the reason the solenoid wasn't turning the starter was that I had left the van in gear. I threw down the screwdriver and chased the van as it careened wildly across the parking lot, accelerating as it went-straight into a Toyota, which in turn smashed into a brand new Mercury, which was then sandwiched between the first Toyota and a second. The van got a new radiator and ran great. The two Toyotas actually were driven away from the accident. The Merc...was totaled. The front end was precisely the width of the engine block.

I fell in love with a girl and married her. That was pretty dumb. Now, I have all these troubles that I don't want. I am watching her battle tumors, and face the unknown. And I have all this fear and doubt. I have weakness now, something else in my life that has a direct cause and effect on my feelings. A chink in my armor. I wake up in the night afraid and shaking with my guts in knots. I've had to become responsible for something other than my self, which is something I am not used to. I spent my whole life being the lone wolf, looking out for numero uno. I have this horrible irrational phobia of losing her... It tears me apart inside, disrupts my life, and gnaws at my soul. I don't like living in fear. I have found a love that consumes me, threatens to destroy me.
And that was pretty much the dumbest thing I have ever done.

It's Welsh actually but I was amazed that it would cause such a reaction nontheless!
I once dropped the phone, picked it up and asked the person on the other end if they were hurt after it!

Not caring would be the dumbest thing Dread. I don't see where you've made any mistakes as far as this is concerned.
