Except the flag you are thinking of is not "the Stars and Bars" -- that is either the Confederate naval jack and/or a battle flag (slight variation) used in the Army of Northern Virginia or the Army of Tennessee.
The "stars and bars" is the First National Confederate flag:

Apologies for being "picky", but I dealt with this on an almost daily basis at the battlefield.
