Saltire Kilt, its here
So yesterday was a very exciting day. I broke down and purchased a Saltire kilt made by The Kilt Center. It has arrived. This is truelly a fantastic kilt. I ordered it through Ben Bhraggie House in Hanover Ontario. (http://www.benbhraggiehouse.com/clothing.htm). While they did not have my size in stock, an order from Scotland arived within about 4 weeks. Their service was first rate.
This is the kilt with the St. Andrews Cross across the back side. The fabric, and particularly the weaving are remarkable, as the "white" lines that make up the cross are only present on the front of the fabric where the pleat is exposed. The sewing quaity and fit are also first rate.
I was scheduled to attend a minor league baseball game last night with fellow employees and the interns I mentor. I had planned to wear an Amerikilt, however, when the Saltire arrived, I could not resist. Front row seats right behind home plate. All went well and the local team won.
So, for those looking for a sink for their money, I can highly recommend this kilt.

I saw one of these kilts up close at the benbhraggiehouse tent at a highland games last year. They are quite frankly, ingenious! I was intrigued enough to post it on Xmarks afterwards. The kilt I saw was traditionally built from top quality 13oz worsted wool, 28 deep pleats and tight small stiches. They look good in pictures but even better when in motion. I'd have bought one on the spot, had I the funds available to do it. They are expensive but I think you got your moneys worth. Anyway, I sure hope you two are getting out and having lots of fun together!! 8-)
