Doctor Who?
So with the large number of members from across the pond;
do we have any Doctor Who fans in the house?

Original?
Modern?
Both?
I've mostly seen the "new"/"modern" shows shown on BBC America (season 1, thus far). Based on the lag for BBC America, these could be actually new, or 5 years old.
I like it.

I liked the old, I love the new. One of my friends has a friend across the pond who is going to record series three of the new as they show each episode and send it to him, so I'll get to see it early! (According to Outpost Gallifrey, series 3 starts on the 31st.) But as far as Doctor Who goes, don't wait for BBC America for it. Watch Sci-Fi channel. They'll probably start season/ series three about May.

Why we gotta be across the pond? I love both runs of it.

i got hooked back in the day when Jon Pertwee played the Doctor,
then Tom Baker replaced him.
Baker was great as the Doctor and played the Character longer than anyone else.
sadly the show went down hill for ages but when the part was taken over but Christopher Eccelston... well I'm hooked again!
I've seen most of both the 2005 and 2006 seasons.
and I'm definitely buying the DVD's, along with the Pertwee and Baker years.
one of the things i got hook by the most was the original theme music.
it's mostly played on a Theremin, so i bought one.
not very good at playing it but i do have fun with it.

My son and I are big Fans too. We haven't had the last series here in Norway yet . I'll have to get it on DVD this summer....I grew up with the Jon Pertwee ( He went on the play a scarecrow called Wurzel Gummidge)

and Tom Baker versions. I faintly remember hiding behind the sofa at the early B+w shows

I even remember seeing the first ever episode with William Hartnell!
By the time of Sylvester McCoy it had grown extremely stale and few mourned when it was taken off.
However since it was revived (made by BBC Wales by the way! ) it has been transformed and given new life and is well worth watching again along with its spin-off Torchwood.
Both the current Dr, David Tenant, and Captain Jack, John Barrowman, are kilt wearers in real life which is an added bonus!

For many years, both old and new.
Our ABC ran them daily right from the first episode recently, that was good.

I just could not get into the older Dr Who series - no matter whether it was William Hartnell, Sylvester McCoy or anyone in between - but I find the David Tennant series absolutely fascinating, together with the 'Torchwood' spin-off. Yes, a new series starts on BBC1 within the next two weeks. Can't wait!

I remember the William Hartnell ones and thereafter - I agree that by the time of Silvester McCoy it was getting a bit tired. But the new series is very good. Interesting that Russell T. Davies actually comes from Swansea - which might account for Cardiff getting invaded by monsters.
The spin-off Torchwood was good, and I look forward to the The Sarah Jane Adventures. The series Primeval is also supposed to be some sort of spin-off, but I can't see it yet (other than the first episode opened in the Forest of Dean, which I suppose is closer to Cardiff than London) - but it does have another Scottish character - Professor Cutter - as (perhaps) the main lead, although we've not yet seen whether he wears the kilt.
