Just What The Doctor Ordered
What we need here, to ease the kilt jonesing, and for fun as well, is the Kilt Maker Cam™.
Wouldn't it be great if we could watch folk like Rocky or Bear, hard at work, slumped over our not quite made kilt? We could watch every loving stitch, and stare in awe as a pleat in born.
I am loving the idea of the Kilt Maker Cam™. I would who would do it... That would draw people to the web site, most likely increase traffic, mayhap increase sales a bit.
And for us suffering the wait, we could watch and sooth our agony.

Gee Doc, you got it bad. I bet you poke at a sore tooth with your tongue too. Don't worry, you'll have your kilt very soon. Rocky and Kelly are FAST!

Hmmmm it is a bad case. I think that it shall pass within the week, just stay calm and try to avoid contact with other kilted people on the visual level. But by all means keep us informed! It is good to let it out

Terry help me for I am losing patience, and know not wherefore and whatnot and so would ask in due humility WHERE'S ME KILT

If you ever get the Kiltmaker cam thing going, may I vollenteer to be the first on line.
You can watch me stich a seam.
Tear out a seam.
drink coffee.
light my pipe.
re-stich the seam.
re-tear out the seam.
drink more coffee.
Will the cam have sound?
Will watchers have the ability to turn down the sound so as not to offend sensitive ears?
Joking aside, I think it's a great idea, sign me up.

Nothing to sign up for, just do it. Have a half way decent firewire cam hooked up to a computer, turn on websharing, and webcast, uploading directly to your webpage or posted IP address at pre-set times. (Like say, 5 to 10 second elapses.) Unless you run a windows box. I have no idea how it's done on a windows box. I fear it might be a bit more complicated.

Course, my inner pervert suddenly pictured a kilt factory staffed by nekid women...make the watching more pleasureable for an old dog like me...

I honestly think this is a good idea.
I just wonder which kilt maker would do it. I know for certain, no doubt what so ever that it would increase sales. Especially if there were nekkid randy women as seamstresses.
All jokes aside, I think it would be rather painless and easy to set up with the right gear. I know only a little about Windows, I am more of a Mac OS / NIX nut, so when I say how easy it would be it would be for those types of systems.
I like web cams. And not the perverted ones. I like the ones set up in coffee shop windows that allow you to watch the people walking down the street or the ones that show parks, or even better, the ones you can tune in to during sun rise or sun set at famous locations.
If you had good hardware, and a high speed net connection, you could use a Mac and an iSight cam to actually stream live video at a good 30+ fps @640x480 from any website. It's a much cheaper solution with a better quality picture then most pro streaming solutions. It could easily be set up for under a grand. You would need at most, an eMac to use as a webcaster, and I know where to get one of those for about 500 bucks. Brand new. And an iSight cam. Just add the right scripts so the camera images constantly save to the web sharing folder and broadcast from any live IP. Everything should work perfectly right out of the box with nothing more to buy. At least I believe so. Macs come with everything you need to do this unless I am mistaken.
