That is what I was trying to say in a polite way. I think it would be great if some Scots heard what we are trying to do to further increase the wearing of the kilt by allowing it to evolve.
Your Semi-Trad is almost a perfect reflection of the needed evolution of the kilt.
Perhaps if Scotland were shown the work you have done so far we would soon have enough interest from Scots that Marton Mills and others would begin to produce the fabrics we so desperately desire. A wider range of Tartans in heavier weights.

I agree... There IS going to be an evolution of the kilt and we're just happy to be a part of it! If the TV station is going to run a story on the "Evolution" of the kilt, they shouldn't just stick to Scotland, as that's not the only place it's evolving! I honestly don't know the answer to this, but I'll ask the question...

How many companies are popping up in Scotland who are making kilts with a "twist" of some sort vs. other areas of the globe (i.e. USA, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Wales, England, Ireland, etc...)? I think a wider exploration of the evolution is merrited (sp?) to discover the far reaching effects of the Scottish garment.

PS~I wear a kilt everyday, so I'm for getting more of the word out, not so that the kilt is common place or even more excepted in society, but so that there is no longer any ignorance.

I'll second/third/fourth/whatever number we're up to an interview with Hamish. And if it were to be filmed the weekend of the Storrington Gathering, so much the better.

And I'll go along with the evolution of the kilt.

The Holy Grail of heavyweight poly-vicose ... especially for us year-round, daily-wear kilties with a preference for tartan.

thanks to everyone who's contributed to this thread so far - we really appreciate it!

Rather than one big documentary we plan on doing a number of short 3 -5 minute videos about different aspects of kilts and they will then sit on www.scotandontv.tv and can be accessed 24/7 - and, of course, that's just the start. There'll be more to follow on.

We're on quite a tight budget so I can't see us managing to do a big international shoot - but we're going to add a section to the web tv channel where people can upload video of their own. So it would be great if some of you could add your own video footage about kilts.

And just one more thing ...... our producer Nigel is getting into kilt-wearing big-time. Yesterday he was at the opening of Glasgow fashion week - wearing his new kilt! At the end of the day there was a show item featuring kilts which we've recorded and hope to get up on the channel in the new few days. We'll let let you know when it's there and you can let us know what you think!
