Do whatever you're most comfortable with!

I think you'd be OK with just a sporran.

    No Belt

I have yet to wear a kilt belt. They are purely ornamental. I recently bought a buckle, so I guess I will have to have some way to wear it.

is there some reason for not wearing a belt with a Waist Coat?
other than the fact that the belt would be partly covered or uncomfortable?

It's partially the fact that it would be covered, but mostly it's the fact that the waistcoat doesn't lie correctly. SInce the belt has no function other that looks why wear it if it will be hidden and make what you are wearing look bad?

Personally I think the idea for a belt with a waistcoat is from the retailers who want to sell you another piece,

With that kilt, IMO, I think a belt would look good.

You're lucky I'm a bit bigger than you, or you'd have never had a chance at that Kilt. I thought about buying if from Scott the minute I saw it and trying to "grow" into it. Good motivation. The Ghillies wouldn't fit no matter what though.

For $100, you got a helluva deal man!

The wide belt adds to the outfit, I always wear a belt with my kilt. A belt is not usually worn with a waistcoat.

It sometimes depends on the wearer, sometimes on the maker. Just in case you missed it, I just ordered a tank and I asked the maker for a LEAST one belt loop. The reason being that I have no hips. I like the look of a belt with a kilt but without loops I have to cinch fairly tight to get a belt to stay up. Doing this makes the kilt look downright bad, puckers and pulls everywhere. Also, I am assuming your SK is a casual model and I have not seen that style without loops. Bottom line is if you have the choice, get what you want.

The belt loops are a misnomer they are meant for your sporran with your belt over top (without using the loops). But again your kilt, your choice.
