Have a look at Union Kilts; they have a good range of non-traditional kilts in at reasonable prices. I have an acrylic Black Watch, a cotton Hunter Green Camo and a light blue Indi denim from them, all of which are great to wear.
I particularly like my workweight Freedom Cargo Kilt, in olive grey, but it was a bit more expensive, plus, being imported from Canada I had to pay an extra £35 for customs duty and VAT and £15 handling charge to the post office for collecting the customs duty and VAT - nearly enough in extra charges to have paid for another Union Kilt!

Wow, that's a lot of extra charges.
I'm having a look at the site just now and I like these discounts they have going.
I think it's time to start reminding my family that my Birthday is in a while. You know... ordering early for shipping times and all that...

    Hey Arlen,

If you're not "standard" size check out the scratch and dent list at Utilikilts. You might find an "off size" bargain that hasn't sold yet. UK Workman's is a work kilt for sure - and it looks sharp. I've got four of them. They offer various lengths. If you find one on the scratch and dent list that's too long, they'll "chop" it for you for $25 USD.

They still come in chocolate and caramel colors. I think P1M has a chocolate there in Scotland. He could tell you what the import costs, if any are.

If you want a true working kilt. Go a bit extra and get a UK. Not knocking AmeriKilts- have an AK putty myself. Just think you'll like the UK workman's better and be more "fashionable" among the young set.

They work for olde geezers too.

    UK Workman's in Caramel.

    The AmeriKilt Putty/War II Khaki

You can't go wrong with either, just the UK Workman's sounds more like what you're asking for. Its bulletproof.

    Black Kilt

Arlen- Back to the Black Kilt for just a second. It really is a versatile kilt to have in your closet. It offers a lot of possibilities and it isn't necessarily depressing. I wore mine on Saturday night with a pale blue shirt, tartan tie, lovet blue hose with red flashes, red sweater, black sporran belt, seal skin sporran, black belt with a heraldic type sheild design with red, yellow, chrome and black, black shoes. If I say so myself . . I felt like I looked pretty good and I was able to pull it off because the kilt was a neutral.

Agreed, brown, khaki, blue are also neutrals.

If you're an olde geezer then I should be picking up my new porsche for the mid-life crisis.

Those kilts look really good on you. I'm thinking that a workman's is going on ym wishlist now.

I agree, they look great and seem really versatile. It's just... one of those ground right in superstitions. I'd spend the whole time wearing it looking over my shoulder.
However, I did get the suggestion that I get a black pinstripe kilt and I'd be willing to go with that.
