That is a bald mistatement. I simply question the wisdom that line of inquiry.

Call it what you like and question it all you will. The fact of the matter is that she was seeking information, which I supplied, to which response you've clearly and openly reacted in a negative manner. Again and again and again, ad nauseum.

Look at my original post. Please see I quoted the young lady's comment about not being able to locate a PLACE. Please see I then supplied her with information about that PLACE. I even commented that the PLACE had some 20th century significance. Please see I made no comment or suggestion about any PERSON or FAMILY, only about the PLACE.

I've no idea if you are incapable of comprehending those facts, or if you are simply choosing to be petulant. In either case, the problem is your own and not mine. I leave you to deal with it by whatever means you prefer.

This thread is leading me to get into geneology again in tracing my Scottish roots. Years ago I stopped, when I ran into a road block, looking for the parents of my GGGGGF, Peter Glennie (1800), born in the Kemnay/Invernessshire area. I've been to my GGF's grave at Coulsalmond, but couldn't find records of Peter's parents. Now that the internet is better, is there an inexpensive way to search from home?

but none of them is particularly inexpensive, by US standards. In stereotypically Scots fashion, they get every nickel and dime out of the researcher they can, even the government's sites. The other day I came across some one on eBay who says that her rates are cheaper, but did not bookmark her. You could probably find her in search there. I think she lives in NZ or Australia.

hey guys , seems like i really inspired a few people to look into there family tree. just thought i would let everyone know that there is a grea FREE website that you can find alot of information on. although i would recommend getting confirmation on the information there , but it might help t fill in some blanks.

All is not sweetness and light in the geneology world. You find that often recent records are off limits to you. The why is it protect these others from some immagined internet stalker. I have an older brother named Jerry. While I was trying to confirm that for sure we have the same father a geneologist cut me off, quite rudely, because the person is still living. I'm like what on earth? This is public information, public records and Jerry is my brother so what is the problem? Nope would not give me the time of day. I can not fathom the why.

All I have is a hand written note in an old 1860's Bible of the family going back to early 1600's. (and Ms Pocahontas!)

Someone else worked out my paternal grandfathers line..."Hebert", several of which were quite early settlers in eastern Canada (late 1600's), and before that, one was apparently an apothecary in the cour of Charles the *mumble*....

My paternal grandmothers people are a mishmash of folks from North Carolina, dating back to the American Revolution. There are two Brysons in there (sept of the MacFarlanes) as well as German, Dutch and Irish.

google "Shawna Hall" and "geneology". she's done a truly massive amount of work in North Carolina.

Maternal Grandfathers side emigrated to the USA right around the turn of the Century from Sweden. Apparently the surname is something that was often made up when you joined the army in the 1800's in Sweden. If the seargeant didn't hear you quite right and was tired of writing "Olafson", he just made up a name for you and sorry dude...you just got a new name.

finally, my Maternal Grandmothers side is a mix of Scottish (MacNaughton/McKnight) emigrating from Ulster around 1733, a "Piercy" who is apparently related to the Piercy family of Northumberland, a "Hall" which appears mysteriouly about 1850 that I can't trace, but very likely was from the Borders.

Quite a mish-mash, I am....and proud of it.

I don't know what happened in the occurrence you are referring to of course, but the stalkers are not always imagined. With some one's date of birth and mother's maiden name, a lot of mischief can be done.
