All is not sweetness and light in the geneology world. You find that often recent records are off limits to you. The why is it protect these others from some immagined internet stalker. I have an older brother named Jerry. While I was trying to confirm that for sure we have the same father a geneologist cut me off, quite rudely, because the person is still living. I'm like what on earth? This is public information, public records and Jerry is my brother so what is the problem? Nope would not give me the time of day. I can not fathom the why.

I am also Pocahontas' descendant. I read a few months ago in a biography of her that she has some 3 million living descendants, all through the Rolfes of Virginia.

I don't know what happened in the occurrence you are referring to of course, but the stalkers are not always imagined. With some one's date of birth and mother's maiden name, a lot of mischief can be done.
