    It is general considered "proper" by most to not have anything hang much below fell in the rear.
    Jackets that are either "waist" length or cut off look better than long ones:



    NOTE: ALL of the kilts I wear now are "traditional" high waisted. For "hip huggers," I would probably tuck in more things fully or not at all.

    I'm one of the "shirts in; sweaters out" crowd. My rule of thumb: if it has a waist band (ie. sweaters, hoodies) it stays out, if not; it's tucked in.

    I'm shirts in-sweaters out 100% of the time, whether I'm kilted or trousered.
