It says right on their front page that they use poly/viscos.

I was under the impression that Sportkilt used a polyester cotton blend and not the same polyviscose that's produced by marton mills.

YOUR RIGHT!!!!
"We are constantly striving to improve our product, and are proud to be promoting the Celtic heritage. We also offer you the largest selection of poly-viscose fabric in clan tartans as well as universal (open) tartans."
They must have changed that in the last while.
They used to be cotton and a poly/cotton or acrylic material.
(I no longer have any, so I can't read any tags)

Could one not approach an established kilt maker to purchase material?

Count the # of tartans they offer against "other kilt companies" ( ) that offer PV tartans and tell me who has the most tartans on hand.
As someone else pointed out... all PV is NOT created equal. The MM stuff is the best by far.

(and MacHummel, but I don't know to double quote)
Take it from 2 of the (and probably THE) BEST of those that deal with the stuff. I've only touched stuff from them and don't know any other, nor the differences.
