After all, this tartan represents X Marks the Scot and is trademarked and that trademark, and the rights thereto belong to Hank. Toting around a tartan banner and claiming that it represents a Membership is much like having an "X-Marks" tent at the Games and so on, and that was soundly nixxed by the management, some time ago.
Wear the kilt..sure. Wear the pin, sure.
Do something that suggests in any way that you "represent" X-Marks the Scot...Nope, and assembling an X-Marks rabble and marching in a Clan Parade or other place where you'd use a banner...NOT.
Of course, if you want to make a banner and hang it in your house, go right ahead, eh? I'm sure that nobody will be upset about that.
Just a heads-up.
Alan, the issue with a booth was more in regards to having other items sold or promoted there under Hank's copywritten name. The same goes with anything to do with the Xmarks name or even the tartan. It is Exclusive, but it is not restrictive. However we hope that no one would buy any of this tartan to try and make any products, to sell to the masses, that have not been given the ok by Hank.
We are working with Steve to try and set up a good deal so that everyone can have access to the Xmarks gear that many members have had input in starting. This will not be a store, but rather a means to start orders for these products effectively and quickly.
I think that you guys in California have been great promoters of the site and I am sure that if you had an interest in having an Xmarks banner made for clan parades or your Burns nights, that an PM or email to Hank for his consent would see that become a possibility (I can't speak for Hank). I think you Cali boys and girls all seem like a great bunch and we have all been honoured to be fellow members with you. I think everyone here is jealous of the California as well as the Ferintosh Burns nights thst took place this past year.
Speaking of the Xmarks tartan, I think we shoudl all again extend a thanks to Alan, as it was his initial idea to get a tartan going. He did alot of research and a lot of pesting (you need that on an internet forum to get things done) to get the membership interested. Without his idea, Matt's design and registration and Steve's work ordering it and shipping it (sorry if I am missing anyone else) w the Xmarks tartan would not be a reality.
