I've been thinking about all these as I've been reading, and I think, at least for myself, there ARE opinions that matter to me besides my own. My wife's opinion matters, else I probably never would've married her. My friends' opinions matter, else they would never have wound up as my friends. Now, as to who I am, I think the best part about that question is that we get to spend our whole lives finding out. The answer really does only come at the end, when people (friends, wives, children) get to look back and say "he was ______" So I think their opinion BETTER matter now. DO kilts define who I am? Well, let's face it, we can't just pop down to the local department store and pick up a kilt. So, for whatever reason, we've sought out kilts. Which seems to suggest that while I may not be defined by wearing a kilt, who I am does lend it self to some desire for a kilted lifestyle, whether that be for comfort (definitely), national pride (there is some Irish blood in my veins, though I am an American, so what blood DOESN'T run in my veins?), or just a desire to "stand out" ( I just gotta be me!). So, while the clothes do not generally make the man, sometimes the man makes the clothes (or the kilt). There's my 2 cent's worth.
