Thumbs up Rocky has my Am-Ex

I called Rocky today & orderd a 5 yard Skene kilt I will wait patiently. I still have to get exact measurements, but since the mateial has to be woven to order we have a little time. The estimate on time is 8 - 10 weeks I will wait patiently. That really is not bad. After all I do not NEED it before mid Sepetember. I was very recently appointed the official representive of Clan Skene for my part of the country. So while I might wear other tartans most of the time I will of course need a Skene tartan kilt for ther times I will be manning the Clan Skene booth. I will wait patiently. My first "official" event will be the Memphis Clanjamfey. As time gets closer I will be posting about it. I will wait patiently. .... who am I kidding I'm jonesing so bad the cat thinks I've lost my mind Rocky, I'm goin' nuts.

It was great talking to you today, Dirk. I have ordered the material and await your measurements for the order.

BTW... as a point of clarification, the material is already woven (I believe... unless I hear otherwise from the mill). It was a bit pricey b/c it's in the "old and rare" range, so they charge more for it (still can't figure that out for the life of me... if it takes the same ammt of time to weave, why is it 50% more than other tartans that take the same time?)

Someone posted awhile back a figuring of how much it costs to weave the average tartan, figuring in time of mill operators, equipment and material costs, etc. and came up with a figure that the mill operators actually only take a very small profit on each yard. That has to be made up somewhere, and that somewhere is going to be in the charge for weaving something that they don't weave that often. As Robert Heinlein would have put it, "All the traffic will bear."

At least that is as near as I can figure it...

That is a neat looking tartan (the Skene).... Did you go with modern colors? (I ask because the dark blue line looks like it might get lost in with the dark green)

Congrats on the appointment AND on buying the woolie. I think you will find out there is a HUGE difference in how that one will fit and feel than any of your current kilts, David.

Hope to see you sometime in June.

I think you are in good hands. I ordered a T shirt and some hose yesterday and they are at the dog compound as we chat.... These folk seem to be on the ball. Many thanks ROCKY!! kiltos and a big ole South Philly YO! to USA KILTS for speedy service.

Edit - Actually that was Saturday I ordered, but still, that's nice and speedy... oldtimers disease early onset type I think is catching me.....
