How to Hang Your Kilt
I noticed that the topic of kilt hangers has come up again.
As you can imagine, in my shop, I am hanging and taking down kilts all day long. I think I have found a system the works for almost any kilt, is cheap, and really works.
This tip on getting free hangers came from one of my customers who works in a ladies wear shop in the mall. When a shop sells an item they take all the hangers and throw them in a box and then into the trash. I have found that if you are polite the staff will be happy for you to dig through their box of hangers and take all you can carry. I now have a supply of plastic hangers with two spring clips that will last me years, just for the asking. In fact, I'm thinking of including free hangers with each kilt that I sell. Free Kilt accessories, when was the last time you heard of that?
These are the style of hangers I like to use. These are just a few of the hundreds of styles that are out there. If you get some that don't work for you, go back to the store and ask if you can try a different style.
I like the ones with the largest and deepest clips I can find. Some even have a soft rubber like stuff on the jaws.

Now, take your kilt and open it up completely.

Then fold it in half.

Then attach one hanger to each side of the kilt. Each clip of the hanger is only having to go over two layers of kilt.

Then fold your kilt in half again and hang it up.

This system works real well for me. I have been able to use it on almost every kind and type of kilt I've ever seen.
I have also found that by hanging this way the pleats are fully supported and hang nice and vertical and the aprons stay flat and wrinkle free.
In the photos, that is a 16oz. Tewskbury Tank I'm hanging. About the heaviest kilt you are going to run across and this method of hanging has yet to drop this kilt.
Try this, if you like it, just send the payment for the tip to me. Cash and in small bill please.
