You're closer to 43 than 37 an you're older than me. hell I keep calling Robert at RKilts geezer. Good idea about the gift of the photo. We did the same a number of years ago. Got an old navy photo of him, found an old postcard of one of his ships (HMS Leander) off of ebay and along with his medals in a shadow box. It made a nice (IMHO) presentation and I think he enjoyed it immensely. Last birthday for my dad we researched my grandfathers war record (WWI) and was able to download his medal record. We ordered replica medals from England (the original medals, he sold long ago when my dad was very small). Again in a presentation box on a Union flag background with a Royal field Artillery cap badge (again ebay) and an engraved plate including name, rank (in the original spelling, Sarjant) and serial number.

Why not see if pete has any Graham of Menouth tartan hanging about for a border (and colour).

Below for those interested is granddad medal card downloaded from National Archives in Kew Gardens.

Wow, four years of fighting in mud and blood and only three medals!
