New member starts an X-Kilt
Hi everyone. I just registered here at X. I found this forum by searching the web for a pattern to sew my own kilt that I can wear out hiking and backpacking.
Seems like the X-Kilt will be my first try, so I registered in the forum too.
I am making it out of "digital camo" since the material was on sale for 70% off at my fabric store, and being a first attempt, cheap is good. Looks like it's going to work out OK for me.
I have gotten to the step where I am top stiching the outer pleats from the hem to the fell, and have 5 done so far, but it is 2:30AM so I better leave the rest for tommorrow.
Thanks for the great pattern, and fine looking forum. I'll post pics if anyone wishes.
Gerald

Yes, we live for pictures. And welcome to the kilted rabble! You may also want to check out Barb's book, at Celtic Dragon Press, though it's temporarily out of print.

from the highlands of Colorado. I see you appear to be in the Mountain Time Zone. There are several groups that get together for kilt nights so you might want to keep an eye out for them.

A warm welcome to ya Gerald_G. Here's hoping you find many friends and great fun!
Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

Welcome to the fray, Gerald.
The folks that order kilts and then whine about the wait don't have any idea how bad the Jones is when you're making your own kilt! Knowing that the fabric is just lying there in the other room, and only your own weakness is standing in between you and a new kilt, is excruciating!
Been there...done that (and at 2:30 AM, too!)
By the way...I do hope your digi-camo is not nylon. I've been able to find little else lately.
