A sharp look for sure. Blending cultures can be fun. I do have a couple Hopi made kilt pins my lady gave me as gifts and they work well. I'm not much on belts and buckles so don't have one.
Good conversation piece if its Navajo...much in common with Scots...clan systems, being conquered and told not to follow traditional ways, the Long Walk and the Clearances, raising sheep, working with wool. Not to long ago the president of the Navajo Nation was a Macdonald. There's still a town called Cameron on the Navajo reservation.
The Hopi also have a clan system, but they pretty much kicked the hind ends of invaders and have been in the same place for over 1,000 years. A kind and gentle people you never wanna get angry.
Wear it proudly and acquire more.

Looks Great to me! I live in Texas and very often wear western style belts and buckles with my casuel kilts, so if you like it, I say go for it!

No particular comment on the Native buckle ... just wanted to comment that a kilt belt should be at least 2in in width. Others on here have said 2 1/2in, but many British and Commonwealth Scottish regiments throughout history have worn a 2in belt. I distinctly remember seeing some Canadian Black Watch soldiers in 2in belts with locket-style buckles!

What's a locket-style buckle?

I believe You are right, most kilt belts in the British Army are 2 1/4in, only pipers wear 3in belts with their dress uniforms. Locket style buckles are very common in the British Army, I am thinking of making mine (which has nothing to do with Scottish regiments) into a kilt belt.

I read a post from a Scottish guy in Scotland, that the tartan kilt was developed in post celtic Scotland, and indeed when I was young, all things Scottish were decorated with thistles and other scottish designs. Then over the years the celtic theme became popular. So that is already mixing two cultures, one old one new.
However more important is the fact often stated in these forums:- The kilt is not a costume or a uniform, it is an item of clothing. As such, like any other item of clothing, you can wear anything with it that looks good and feels good to you. I'm not sure about that belt but that buckle looks good to me.

On of the kids on the team want's to make a kilt, another called me "kilted warrior". The only negative I heard was at competition where an older homophobe said "nice skirt". I did have plenty of high school kids complement me though. I say wear it, you might be suprised at the reception!

My question is not the buckle, which is a beautiful design, but also the size of the buckle. Would you mind re-posting the photo of the belt and buckle with something that we can all relate to "size-wise" such as a quarter or even a ruler or tape? Thanks.
