I try whenever possible to get my customers who are "Gentlemen of Substance" to wear the kilt at Traditional Rise. It is surprising how slimming it is.
Check out the pictures of Big Mikey. He started out wearing kilts only at low rise and has not totally converted to high rise.

    I wear the kilt because:
    Swish + Swagger = Swoon.

As "Lord Dumbledor" has stated, I began wearing kilts at low rise. I will say that they are casual kilts and are worn at my "p***s waist". This is where my navel is. I continue to wear them simply because they are good kilts and I can't bear the thought of getting rid of them as they do serve a purpose.

I would not suggest wearing either pants or kilts below the "dunlop", that is where your belly "dunlops" over your belt. IMHO that just emphasizes your girth.

I own three SWKs, one tank and one CCK that are all worn at a traditional height. It took some time to get used but it really is my preferred style now. Any future purchases will be of this style.

If it is of any help to you I am 6'2" and about 320 lbs. My kilts are sized at
52" to 55" waist. Below are some comparison pics for you.

I hope this is of some help to you.

If you were to tailor a kilt to be worn at hip level, I'll just point out that Utilikilt adjusts the drop when making their "beer gut cut" models. Because the gut pushes the front of the kilt down, the front is cut shorter than the back to compensate, so that the overall effect is an even look front and back. :crap: Maybe someone can explain that better than I did.

    Best regards,

    Jake
