I have a regular day sporran and that 'clack' 'clack' drives me nuts. I think I'll cut those things off too.

Bugs the hell out of me too. I superglued them down and now I don't have a problem.

Uilleam: I see nothing wrong with it but, as Bradley said, cutting the tassels off makes it look less like a sporran and more like a fanny pack.

I did cut the tassels off of two other "day" sporrans. Couldn't be happier on that.

Cure for drumming tassels on leather day-sporrans:

One tiny drop of leather glue under the strap of each tassel (about half-an-inch below where it threads through the front face of the sporran, so the strap is glued to the front wall of the sporran.

Once the straps are glued in place and the knots sit back against the sporran, the tassels don't drum. There isn't enough movement in the leather of the shorter section of the tassel strap now left free to allow the knot to move away from the front face.

Glueing rather than tassel amputation preserves the look of the sporran. I've tried superglue, but found that it didn't have enough 'give' - once set it's brittle, and if you stuff the sporran chock full of wallet, car-keys etc., the bowing of the front face can crack the adhesive. Leather glue retains some measure of flexiblity once set, and doesn't seem to crack as easily.

    Best regards

I think you will be in good shape if you decide on the surgery. The nightstalker is what I wear to work everyday.

Just make sure you don't cut anything but the tassel.

The point of this discourse is that if you disturb the seams in anything subjected to stress, in my limited experience, the seams will fail. There is ample room under the front flap to cut the tassel straps without disturbing any stitched seams.

My current nightstalker is a stout and durable accessory. Some days I am even tempted to wear it with my Utilikilt. Very handy with the three compartments.
