One of my Grandfathers was a squid. But, I have a thing about wearing "military" tartans I have no direct association with. I hope you guys can get a run going though, it's a beauty. Oh, and as far as an Air Force nickname:
"Flyboy" (really mostly for pilots) or "Wingnut" was the one I got a lot (used a lot for AF mechanics.) I've also heard "Pigeon" as a reference to a member of the Air Force, but not often. Wanna provoke a hotheaded Airman? Tell him "Hoorah Chair Force!" Never bothered me much, I just laughed usually... depended though I guess....
