    Kilted Pictures

    Well, the time has come!

I finally got some pictures of me in my great kilt. This is actually at my work, interpreting and reenacting the early American pioneers.

And please, no flaming for the kilt in this period. I was showing it as an example of the lack of cultural acceptance in that time.

    What do you think?

More details, please. Were you portraying a Loyalist Highlander?

Kinda', I guess. To be honest, I just wanted an excuse to wear it, since there are no more RenFaire's nearby. One of the girls asked me to wear for the "fashion show," so I did. The biggest thing I was showing was how our ancestors used everything they could as much as they could (the kilt also doubling as a blanket, etc.), and then it was described how I would have been arrested had I been seen buy a sheriff.

Here is a picture of me in my traditional kilt.

Forgive the missing sock and the poorly tied garter. I was attempting to get everything on while keeping my neon white dog off of me.

It looks a little long, but according to everyone at the house, it hits mid-kneecap. The pleats aren't the best (hence the lack of picture), but I'm ordering a Frugal Corner box-pleat after payday.

    Any comments?

It was at Carter Caves State Resort Park, in Eastern Kentucky, on the last week of July.

Not a summer camp, but we do have some camps that stop by to go on cave tours.

You look just great. And I'm sure you'll love your FC kilt when you get it.
I think you probably did a great job teaching all those folk.

    Take care.

The kilt looks good, but I'm wondering what material you used. The sett looks small.

The material is a wool/acrylic blend. It's a "unregistered" tartan. I bought it at a RenFaire from a random vendor. Now I look back on it and wish I would've saved my money, but it's my first kilt, and I still love it.

Here is a good view of the sett:
