Alex, although I had plenty to do in preparation for my holiday in California (starting on Thursday), I watched most of the BBC's TV coverage of the event this morning - all four hours of it - in the hope of catching a sighting of you, but to no avail ! Did not see a single kilt in fact, but I guess that's hardly surprising in a crowd of 40,000! Anyway, very well done and I hope you raised a good amount of sponsorship for your charity.

I was saddened to read this article in The Herald, this morning -
Runner in Half-Marathon Dies
James Morgan
Thousands of runners yesterday completed the 26th Great North Run, but the event was marred by tragedy for the second successive year.
Last night organisers confirmed that a 29-year-old man, as yet unnamed, had died after taking part in the half marathon through Tyneside.
The tragedy follows the deaths last year of four male runners, including 28-year-old Reuben Wilson, whose relatives took part in this year's race in his memory.
Organisers had added safety measures which included medics on mountain bikes, an extra medical tent and shuttle buses at three points to help runners unable to continue.
A statement from the organisers read: "Nova International can confirm the tragic loss of life of a 29-year-old male runner at the Bupa Great North Run today and offer our deepest sympathy and condolences to his family and friends."
Despite the deaths last year, 36,398 started the 13-mile race and the Tyne Bridge featured competitors in costumes from camels to caterpillars.
