It was put in the dryer, yes.
It was a 100% wool kilt woven by James Pringle, but I'm not sure who the maker was. I picked it up second hand.
It was a 34" waist and is now about 33" inch waist.
Was 21" drop, now is 18" drop!
He meant well and it really wasn't his fault.
I'm working on something that will be a good replacement, anyway. More to come on that next week.
At least I have 3 other kilts in the wardrobe, one on the way and another being made for me.
That will just have to comfort me, I suppose.

As far as my sisters, one doesn't wear tartan, another doesn't wear skirts unless they are 'punk skirts' and the other two are Butch lesbians.
So I am going to try to help Punk it up with some zips and pins and things.
Then at least it might get some use.

Let me rephrase that... They are wonderful women who I love but they are the sort of butch lesbians who prefer jeans, sweat pants and football shirts to mini-kilts.

Did the kilt come out of the dryer about as thick as a wool army blanket? I would think that it may make a great throw or wrap of some sort. I am sure that a little creativity is in order here.

Well, that picture just kind of hurts to look at... I suspect like others that the pain you felt might only have been slightly less than what your Dad must have felt when he realized what he had done.
I appreciate your good humor over this incident, it makes me proud to know that their are men of good humor among us.
Cheers,
