I must say that I am in agreement with Archangel, over-reaction these days seems to be an epidemic. Everyone demands freedom of speech and at the same time is so offended at some peoples comments that they either have to come to blows or retain the aclu. I would suggest a thicker skin with just a little reason and common sense; if that still exists.

    Mike1 and others:

I believe the user agrement (TOS) can be summed up in a single word, brotherhood.

what i was trying to say in my statement is that our essential belief is brotherhood and a love for a garment.

in non essential beliefs (anything other than what is listed above) we are free to believe whatever we want (liberty)

In discussion of those liberties, there must be charity (humility, respect, dignity) so that brotherhood remains intact.

I'll raise a glass to that.

I'm not ashamed of this forum, today or any day.

I'm not ashamed of what I wrote, though I do regret not wording my initial post a lot better. It's not the first time that I've thought I've gotten my message across and then haven't. The thread continues merrily on it's way whihle I sit here trying to make corrections after the fact. Ah, well. *grump*. I didn't intend to suggest that I thought it was a great idea to give anybody a concussion for a simple kilt lift.

I'm not ashamed of what I wrote. I do, however, think the topic has gone on QUITE far enough and it's time to stop it and move on.

    ************************************************** ************

And I'd also like to say this: PiobBear, what happened to your wife is wrong. W-R-O-N-G. I don't need to know the details, it's none of my business. But unprovoked assault of any kind is wrong, and unfair, and it does a lot more damage than just the bruises and physical hurts. The ache and pain and hurt lasts for years, decades...even whole lifetimes, sometimes. I'm sorry for what happened to your wife. I wish it never happened to her, and it shouldn't happen to ANYBODY, man or woman, Ever.

Alan for what it's worth, I think we all have difficulties at time in truly expressing our thoughts accurately. Perhaps you were venting, joking or even one of various degrees of serious. It's been a while we've had such a lively topic, I suppose we were due. Through it all some valid points were made, I think, fortunatly, we all have some pretty thick skin and any bad feelings will soon evapourate. Just a lively discussion amongst friends.

Note to Mike1: Until you give up your other forums, we'll strive to make you notice this one above all others! .

You know, this whole board is about kilts. And when it comes right down to it, kilts are a pretty light-hearted thing. I mean, really...how deadly serious can we get about a flippin' KILT?

I read the pain in PiobBear post, think about what he and his wife have probably gone through and have had to deal with. I think about one of my friends who's been assaulted, I mean REALLY assaulted, sexually, not just a kilt lift or even a grope-with-intent-to-humiliate and you know what? All of a sudden "kilts" and "kilt checks" that will probably never in a lifetime happen to you or me just don't seem so terribly important any more.

I think we ought to get back to talking about kilts, and enjoying this board for what it is supposed to be for.
