This place does weddings and also has accommodation. Also it is close to Stirling, Glasgow & Edinburgh if you are sightseeing - http://www.culcreuch.com/ - and I have to admit a preference as it is also the ancient seat of the Galbraiths.
If you want something really historic this place does weddings and has limited accommodation - and also brews its own beer. It is not far from Peebles in the Scottish borders - http://www.traquair.co.uk/

Hope all goes well and as others have said you really do need to hire a car to see the country properly.

Maybe I'm just an old romantic...

My best friend was married yesterday. He and his bride were surrounded by loving friends and family. Twas a joyous occasion. Somehow I just can't imagine an event so important and monumental as the marriage of two souls not shared or celebrated with friends and family.

I think I agree with you but I can see the other side too. Wedding arrangements seem to bring out the worst in some people, pulling the couple this way and that, wanting them do do one thing or the other. I just have to remember it's their day and it has to be what they want.

There was a thread a while back on somebody getting married at Rosslyn Chapel. How did they pull that off?
