I like to color match hose to shirt as well.. looks nice.

On the belt, no biggie in my opinion. To me, you have a nice casual look vs. so many other people these days who wear clothes that look worn out.

Sporran chain... you can find a nice thin belt to use in it's place.

All in all.. I like the look.

One of the other threads was looking for ideas for business casual. With the recommended belt, sporran chain changes, I would suggest that you post that pic over there. It's pretty darn close to answering that question.

I think your outfit looks great and suits you well. You haven't made the mistake of wearing white hose and the colours co-ordinate well. Take no notice of comments about the belt buckle and sporan strap, neither are formal dress items, although they can be, and it is usual to wear a large buckle with the kilt. I wouldn't change a thing.

For some reason the dark blue and green tartans don't photograph well. I think the outfit looks great. Try a leather sporran strap or sporran hangers they will save wear and tear on the kilt. The belt with the waist plate works well for me, IMHO it adds to the masculine look of the kilt. I always wear a belt with a waist plate.

The look you have going on here is about what I do in cooler weather, even with the formal/informal mixture.

I think it looks fine. I do a really bad job of matching colors myself, so you're doing better than I do. As for the sporran belt, I myself tend to wear a thin leather belt with ~6 inches of large link chain on both ends, it doesnt cut at the kilt like an all chain belt, and looks good with just about any sporran, formal or casual.

I've got 3 different belts i wear with my kilts, one is the standard 2.25 inch wide with the flat plate buckle, one is just a 1.5 inch wide leather belt like i'd wear with normal pants, I usualy wear this with my non-tartan kilts, and the last is a 3 inch wide ranger-style belt, which I cant decide if it looks more formal or less formal than the 'standard' kilt belt. I've just always liked ranger-belts.

I've only been wearing kilts for a year, so that's the basis of my opinion as I differ with others here who present themselves quite handsomely.

If you like the belt buckle, keep wearing it. I wear big buckles like yours with all my kilts. Heck, I used to wear big buckles like that with my blue jeans. So counting you and I, there are at least two of us that don't mind wearing a nice buckle casually.

    I like the look.
The only real change would be to locate a long enough belt (1 inch wide or narrower) and use it as a sporran belt.
I have gotten several that work from thrift stores, like Goodwill or Salvation Army.

Actually, it looks good to me. The green in the kilt breaks up the overall blue effect. Altogether, a really nice outfit !
The Kilt is my delight !
