An update.
The shop proprietor assessed the kilt which was thought to be a 38" waist to see if it could be altered for me. In fact when I went down to the shop earlier today for a trial fit it was found to be closer to a 44" waist and there is just too much material for it to be easily modified to fit me. So there are still three kilts left in stock, one much too big for me and the other two much too small and they are now reduced to £80 each.
I was disappointed not to be able to have this tartan, but as a consolation I placed an order for a new 8 yarder in Lochcarron's Ancient McKenzie.
