Well Hank was the first to join the forum on January 22, 2004 so I think it would be safe to say that was the first official day of the forum.
We have tried something similar to this in the past. We had a global party for Hamish's birthday a few years ago http://bearkilts.com/KiltsNight/may1kn.html
I think that given the date of the Xmarks anniversary, that it would be best to try for a Burns night on the following week of January 20th-26th, which would incorporate the 4th Xmarks birthday and Robbie Burns day. It's always a good excuse to get a bunch of kilties together for a good time.

I think Burns birthday would be a great annual world-wide kilt day. But no reason we couldn't shoot for Oct. 27th too.

Burns day would be good for a world wide kilt day, but we should also have a world wide X-Marks day. But at this point why not declare Oct. 27 “lift a beer toast for kilts day” for 2007 and adjust next year as necessary. At some point during the day everyone lift a beer toast for kilts on the 27th. Kilted preferred but not necessary, 7 p.m. local time if possible but not necessary.
Single malt can be substituted for beer without penalty.

Great Idea
I think it's a great idea!
Since I'm a newbie, I don't know where or IF Denver is doing a Kilt Night, but there are a number of good pubs in Denver - one of my favorites is the Squealing Pig (3rd & Clayton, in Cherry Creek)!!
What about it Denver-ites?

If it's gonna be a beer, it should at least be a good Scottish import, say, Belhaven's Wee Heavy?

Therefore you are elected by an anonymous decision to orgainize one for the 27th.
Ask and you shall be elected, to butcher a good quote.

Will do... I'm familiar with the quote, and I use it all the time in several organizations I belong to and/or am President of.
You coming to Denver for the 27th? Nothing like shooting the messenger, when he's delivering the results of an "anonymous decision"...
I'll put a posting in the Kilt Night section for any Coloradoans who might be interested!

Here I must disagree, I may admittedly be in the minority, however as I do not drink and have not for close to 15 years I could not and would not support this. It is strange to me that you would say and I quote "Kilted preferred but not necessary".
Forgive me but this is a kilt forum, if you want to talk about everyone lifting a beer or single malt you might want to talk about it in the pub forum, not here.
That said, I will be out at our local gathering most likely lifting a ginger ale to this wonderful forum.
