First comment I got was "Why are you wearing a skirt?" My response was "It's not a skirt, it's a kilt." I then turned and walked away. Mind you this was in an office that had 9-12 cubicles. They were raising awareness and looking for volunteers to help mentor school age kids.

She later came up to me and appoligized and said she had scottish blood and hoped I wasn't offended. "Of course not." I replied.

So we left the drinks and hors deourves, and went on a stroll thru the city. It was First Friday, an evening where all the local artist's open their doors to the public. It has gotten so popular that the artist's can't afford the housing and are slowly moving away from the now popular area.

Anyway, back to the story... I was walking down the street past an open air resturant, one guy (grey hair, jacket) leans back out over the railing and says he has a $5 bet with the girl across from him, concerning what I wear under the kilt and he wants to know. Well, if it was the girl asking, my response might have been different. I responded "Why would you care?"

Got a lot of complements from the women walking around "Nice kilt". My response was "Thank you". Of course, my wife was with me the whole time.

Any other witty responses to complements?

I get asked quite frequently as well, both from men and women... I usually just respond "Boots" or "Shoes" and give them the "Do you really wanna take this conversation any further?" look... they usually respond with "oh!" and move along.

One other time a woman was flirting with me, and she had been flirting (quite obviously) with several other men in the bar, and she asked me (actually more slurred to me...) the same question... I responded with "Whatever it is or isn't, you can't afford it..." she hightailed it for the next guy. LOL
