Necktie length

So what seems to be the consensus on overall tie length? To the top of the belt? To the top of the kilt?

I would say if you are wearing a belt, and not a waistcoat then the tie should be just touching the top of the belt, for kilt wear I like to use a Windsor Knot, as I find that they look great, and has been said use up quite a bit of the tie for the knot.

I found this site with video instruction that makes it very easy to do, they also have a how to on bow ties, which I have found very helpful, as I really do not like clip on bow ties.
