A few weeks ago I was wearing a nice, light 11oz kilt for summer and rushed down the stairs of my building to take my dog out. With the wind coming up and me going down the kilt got lifted alllllll the way up.
Luckily, no one was around to see, but it reminded me to always wear a heavy sporran with a light kilt.

It was on the caribbean cruise last year. The night before my accident I shared the table with a yuongish married couple. The husband was engaged in conversation so the wife leaned over and asked my quietly about what's under the kilt.
I tried the standard "Do you REALLY want to know?" and some other answers but she didn't relent. So I simply said "briefs".

After the accident the USCG came on the ship to take me to Miami, and as they lifted me over to their guerny the kilt must've flipped up, because the 'wife' leaned down and said
"Thank you for showing me what's under the kilt"

Once when I was lifting our grandson up, his shoes caught the front hem of my kilt and I could feel it lifting as I lifted him. I just lowered him a bit and swung out his feet and lifted again. If anyone was looking, they were looking at my grandson and not the bottom of my kilt. So I always remember that when I lift him while wearing a kilt.

I actually just had an experience this past weekend. My girlfriend and I were walking in the small town of Rockford just north of Grand Rapids, just enjoying the shops and nice weather - though it was a little windy. My sporran and pin were keeping things pretty well under control in front, but as I crossed in front a store window, a gust of wind came from around the corner of the building behind me and lifted my pleats up to my head. I don't get embarrassed easily (pun intended), but I quickly brushed them back down behind me and told my girlfriend that my cheeks just got really cold for a moment. I honestly don't care if anyone saw me, but if they did, my pale white cheeks most likely blinded them anyway, so they didn't see much.

Let's assume you intend to be modest and let's keep it tasty, in good taste.

Actually, I had a moment about a year ago when a lady-friend, who was also my next-door neighbor, and I were talking in my front yard. Her toddler-aged daughter came over and I picked her up.. At that moment, my friend's mother was standing across from me, too. As I hoisted the child, her foot hooked under the bottom of my kilt and ended up flashing the mother..

Wouldn't that be "This one time, at kilt camp..."

Anyway, only a couple of months after I started wearing kilts, I wore one to the organizational picnic. There must have been some strange swirling wind currents happening, because as I was standing there, something started tapping my back. I realized that the back of the kilt had floated up and was flapping against me. Fortunately, I was wearing briefs that day because I was participating in the games.

This summer I went out to get the paper and didn't realize it had jsut sprinkled for a bit. I slipped on the top step of porch steps and went down all of them on my back, kilt flying up to my chin! Luckily it was around 5:30 am, so the only party offended was the neighbors cat.

I echo the "Beware of city streets" comment of earlier. My wife and I were leaving the Gallery in Baltimore one afternoon and a *strong* gust of wind came through and "peeled me like a banana" (wife's words).

    I found it incredibly amusing.

Give it a wee tuck between the knees. See Hamish's excellent video tutorial on the "pleat sweep."
