True, but it really has become the stereotypical image.
Horns on helmets would be very impractical. Helmets were usually designed to deflect a blow from a weapon. Why in the world would anyone want to put on something to catch the force of the blow?

What? Of course they had horns on their helmets. It must be true, I saw it on TV!

Just another case of when the Romantissed version becomes well, more cooler then the actual version. You cant say it isnt true for almost everything older then 400 years old. I happen to enjoy both the romantice and factual.

Nice leather! I wish I had a leather kilt I always think leather is a bit to 'squeeky' though.

I've had that UK brown leather for three years now. It's never squeaked once. Quality goods. Think of the leather in a baseball mitt.
Just keeps getting softer and softer...or is it more pliable...whatever, its a dream. Never wrinkles even on long distance drives. Toasty and warm in foul weather including snow storms. Fun to slink around in during good weather.
Like a hand sewn wool kilt, expensive, but you get full value from the quality.
