James - the St David's has no military connections whatsoever and you simply cannot apply the same philosophy to a bi-coloured striped kilt as you can to a full normal tartan.
One colour is going to be completely submerged in normal view when it isnt swishing around.
No wonder this idea hasn't been seen before - no Welshman would be seen dead in it. 
I don't have to live with it, a fact for which I am truly grateful.
