For those that are interested, I've recently begun tying my garters a slightly different way than is illustrated on our gift shop site. I plan on taking photos and putting up instructions as an alternate method, but in the meantime, here is a description.

Take the center of the garter and place that at the outside of the leg. Criss-cross the two ends around the inside of the leg and bring them back around to the outside. Then tie them in a simple overhand knot. Lastly, tuck the two ends down and underneath the garter, which will hold them securely in place.

I love this method because it is supremely secure. When I tie mine this way they don't move a milimeter all day long. It's solid!

Thanks, Matt. I've just ordered a pair and look forward to trying them. Thanks for getting the oversized ones too.

    Thanks Matt,

The things we tinker with eh?....I'm gonna adopt that method, makes sense....but so, do you have any ideas on how to "tame" the fringe ends...or do you just let them fly?

We get them from the gift shop at the Scottish Tartans Museum. Matt: nice idea for tying them. I have been trying to accomplish a sort of clove hitch around my leg, then fold the ends down.

In this shot they are merely a little unruly, but sometimes they get quite wild:

As others have noted, though: women (my wife among them) compliment these while "regular" flashes do not seem to register. And the crazier the fringes look, the more compliments I get!

    Ron,

To be honest I've never even paid that close attention to the fringe on mine while I wear them. I just let them do what they are going to do!
