As promised... photos of my sporran chain project have been taken.
The leather could probably use a dye job, but this will work for the time being.

I like that contrast, the sporran pops put from the kilt. Nicely done!

Until I saw the photos, I didn't realize how much it popped. I do like the way it looks. Thanks.

very nice chain. What metal and ring ID did you use? How long have you been making maille? I have a sporran chain I made in the GSG weave and it looks great, but I haven't gotten around to attaching the leather straps and buckle yet.
Again, very nice, and I really like the sporran too!

The whole belt took me about 2 hours.

You'd be better off to go here. Giving directions is NOT my forte.

The metal is .062 inch Inconel. They're 1/4" ID rings.
I've been mailling since February of this year. Eventually, I'll finish the hauberk project I've had going for the last 4 months.
For the leather part of my project, I just used a thrift store leather belt (I have to admit... it was a ladies belt). I cut each end to the desired length, then riveted the fold overs around some d-rings. Each chain is attached to its d-ring using a 3/8" ID 14ga galvanized steel ring.
Thanks for the sporran comment as well.
