I didn't think you were trying to drum up tourism, I was in Williamsburg the first weekend of October for the Scottish festival, and the manager of the hotel where I stayed expressed an interest in kilts and this forum, so I gave him the URL. When I saw that you had become a member, I hoped you were him.

USMC, are you at Camp Pendleton? A good friend is stationed thereabouts. Of course there are only 5 or 6 Marines stationed out that way, so I'm sure you know him. Greetings to you, TKW, from central Maryland.
I'm especially happy to hear from you because I have lost track of Scotland House, which used to be in or near Merchant Square, and I'm hoping you can tell me whether it is still in business. I have fond memories of Mr. Magruder, who ran it; I still have a tartan shirt, a Balmoral with crest, and several books that I bought from him.

If it is convenient for you to look into this, please pm me.

 Many thanks and best wishes.

			Scotland House

As I suppose folks who may eventually visit Williamsburg may find it of interest, I'll add a side note on this thread that Scotland House is very much still a going concern. They do not, from what I can tell, have a web presence, but can be reached by the old fashioned telephone.
This listing of merchants on Merchants' Square in Williamsburg has Scotland House under Men's and Women's Apparel.
 Lovin' the breeze 'tween m'knees!

They are indeed still around. I've bought several things there and have always been happy with purchases. The price is a bit out of reach for me, but they really do carry quality products. The owner travels to Scotland on buying trips, so he knows what he's getting.

In the interest of full-disclosure, several of my friends have worked there at various times, so I may be slightly biased. Perhaps.
