I have to disagree about the NCLB being the cause of mediocrity. I've listened to family members who are/were teachers for the past 30 years and have heard the same complaints. More power to you for helping with those kids that most want to forget about. As long as you maintain your professionalism it's tough through you under the bus unless they do a wholesale clearing of the ranks. In the end, I think dedication and professionalism will win out.
