Yes, my other PVC kilt (not my USA semi-trad) came from one of Gold Brothers shops and has "Authentic Woven Tartan" on the label.
My very cheap acrylic kilts came from an English based e-bay seller and have "Highland Kilt -Designed in Scotland - Authentic Woven Tartan" on the label yet one of them isn't even tartan - its a solid navy blue colour.

About four years ago I bought an Amerikilt. All the comments from the other members apply. Well enough made but very thin and with narrow aprons. Always unkempt minutes after ironing. I was kind enough to let someone else own it (Thanks, Ebay).

In fairness to Amerikilt I hear that previous problems have been corrected so I chalk it up to growing pains.

Kilts'N'More 5 yard casual kilt. It was actually a 3 1/2 yard box-pleated wrap - no shaping, no straps/buckles/fasteners of any kind. But it was wool (going against the trend there).
I gave it to my shorter, skinnier elder brother.

I own a putty colored AK that I like but don't wear often due to the wrinkling and pleat curling, but mainly due to the fact that it seems to have shrunk (that's the only explanation, right?

I'll sort of come to Amerikilt's defence and say it's not so much of correcting problems as it is differences in their materials. That's why everyone's experiences with AK are all over the board. Literally each one of their colors uses different material with different characteristics.

Several of the colors are kind of a looser weave and are extremely soft. Several are similar to the material UK uses for their standard model. At least one of their colors is very stiff. Most of the material is 100% cotton that wrinkles badly. Their current (at least thru last fall) run of black kilts are polyester or a poly blend so they hardly wrinkle at all but they have a sheen to them that you may or may not like. I saw someone at a festival last year that stood up and his AK literally remained sticking out from his rear at a 45 degree angle

, though to be fair, I have also seen Utilikilts do this.

Amerikilts does play around with new materials regularly. I have a lightweight micro-suede kilt from them that I love and it doesn't wrinkle at all.

As far as I know, their has been no change to the bottom of the kilts. They are still finished in a surge (I think this is what it is called) stitch that many don't like, though I personally don't think it looks any worse than the selvedge on my USA Kilt.

Last winter, Mike at AK mentioned he was working on prototypes for a more traditionally styled kilt using the poly or poly blend material but I never noticed any at the celtic festivals this year so I'm not sure if this ever materialized.

I have seen sheep shearing competitions but they have always produced wool!

Even if the label meant to read that it was a mixture of acrylic and wool it would still be wrong as neither would then be 100%...

Guess I've been pretty lucky, paid attention to the feedback on this board.

Before I got here I had two Utilikilts with problems. A tan original that the hem unravelled in the first washing. Took it to a local seamstress who fixed it. Shouldn't have had to. My blue denim UK original arrived with a bad snap on the apron where its supposed to penetrate seven levels of denim...a chore for any snap. They sent me replacement snaps and I had to buy a snap setter tool kit. Shouldn't have had to. That was back when UK was farming out their sewing and not inspecting the finished products well before shipping them to customers.

And before I got here I bought two SportKilts - the gathered, pleated to the random kind in one length (too long for my short legs). Only a kilt pin seems to get them to look anything like a kilt. They are better when my lady wears them as a long tartan skirt. And, they arrived reeking of cigarette smoke. And, with a belly like mine the only thing that funny little front waist pocket is good for is to cut off and make flashes out of it.
