			 Bunny Sporran

Hi all, this thread has become about the putting together of a kilt outfit, and the conversion of a corduroy jacket and vest to that outfit. The bunny sporran (rabbit fur sporran) is part of this outfit, as well as matching tweed shoes and driving cap. In the future, I plan to add brown hoes to this combination following a suggestion posted by MacMillan of Rathdown. He also began the idea of using a corduroy jacket as seen below. I would be glad to consider any other suggestions.

 * I have removed the picture so I don't have to keep track of where it is posted. It can still be seen in my albums and in the gallery.*

Hi all, I will be visiting family for a few days over in freezing Albuquerque, N.M. this week, and I plan on kilting one of those days. I'll be wearing my SWK Weathered Half Lamont, a brown polo shirt and brown tweed shoes, no belt. I'm wondering should I wear a brown bunny sporran, or a plain brown leather sporran? They're both from SWK and not too fancy.

This is a link to where the idea for my corduroy jacket conversion began. It's a thread called "Black Cororoy jacket conversion" by James MacMillan.

The folowing is acut and paste of the post where it all clicked together as an idea:

I have a brown corduroy jacket and vest that I'm looking at for conversion that sounds a bit like that. Glad to hear that it works. I'm thinking it will go well with my Weathered Lamont 1/2 set. It has patch pockets too, so it might be an easy chop job for the lady with the needels.

So thanks to the MacMillan clan for this idea.

With the polo shirt as a formality indicator I'd go with the plain leather sporran. Stay warm!

I would say the brown leather day-wear sporran should be fine, but you could take both just in case.

Yeah, plain leather is more casual. Fur is a bit dressier. I don't know the occasion, but those should help you decide.

A fur sporran is generally for more formal attire so go with the plain leather as mentioned above.
 By the way...tweed shoes?

I'll have to agree with this. You might be able to pull off a fur sporran with a non-formal jacket and tie, but not with a polo shirt.

Even though some "purest" say that fur sporrans can go with everything, and others contend that fur is for hunting only, modern usage normally reserves fur for more dressy times.
Go with something casual. - I would wear a belt.... only because I think it completes the kilt.

Of course back in my pant days, I always wore a belt with everything also. Maybe it's a security thing with me.

Stay warm, have fun, go proud!
