Sport kilt sizing question

I have yet another waist sizing question for all that have a Sportkilt.

Do their waist sizes run true? I asked this question about SWK in another thread. I'm looking for a "beat" around kilt. Sportkilt runs in even sizes,
I'm around 35-35.5" at the waist-would it be best to get a 34" or 36"?

They have elastic built (sewn) in the back - so size isn't that critical.

I'd say get a 34"

I just called SK and asked about the Commando kilt, they said they are made to your specs., which is good for me. I've never had a kilt that was not custom made and I'm cautious of buying something that won't fit.

I like the Commando for several reasons-pockets, USMC digital cammo and cost. Any thoughts?

Yes but none pure. I considered the Commando when looking for my first kilt. Ended up with SWK Heavy weight. Got a camo FK after. I love camo kilts and pockets. For the cost I don't think you can go wrong but remember custom made gets addictive.

I use mine for just around the house. It is made with cotton light-weight fabric. It's a "starter" kilt. You might do better looking at SWK.

I'm with you, James. I've got a SK Boulder somewhere around here. I think the cat sleeps on it sometimes. It is actually fairly well made, but the "two ounce" fabric just doesn't cut it. I actually wear my OTR Sportkilts more frequently.

I used to do that to give things the horse hair, fake cashmere look.

I don't know about the boulder, but the basic sportkilt has elastic, huge strips of velcro, and I think they still understate the waist by an inch or so. When I ordered mine, I was just slightly too large for the next size down, but despite being within the measurement range, the one I ordered would probably slide off without the belt holding it in place. I believe they even said in one of the many bits of paper that fell out of the box that they tried to add a little extra room, just in case.

Even the baby kilt is roomy. But then again, kids are getting fatter and fatter these days.

Edit: personally, I love the sport kilt. And I highly recommend checking out the specialty fabric section. However I think for the price of a boulder, I would probably consider something along the lines of a UK.

I've had a couple of their basic kilts, used for highland games, and both have seemed to run a little large.

The one kilt I have gotten from them didn't fit right. I was right on the cusp between sizes as given on their sizing guide, so ordered the smaller size. This turned out to be a mistake as it didn't fit, especially since I had ordered buckles which I couldn't close.

I wound up having to get rid of it, which was a disappointment as they were considering discontinuing that tartan. Luckily they didn't!
