Your First Christmas Kilted

Good thread Ron. Mine was 2005. I had ordered a Night Stalker from Jerry, belt and sporran. I commited a few kilt "don'ts" but the overall experience was great.

I remember walking up the driveway at my cousin's house and hearing my aunt yell out "Mike's wearing a kilt! Where's my camera?!"

My family has always been supportive of my kilting and I may be able to report on a convert this year.

From this humble beginning I have become the Big Mikey that you know and love today.

My first Kilted Christmas was last year, we had our Christmas at my Aunt Jean and Uncle Murdy's house.
Here is the outfit I wore:

I was a new member of the forum then, and had one kilt, I have learned quite a bit about how to carry myself and how to wear the kilt. Despite this being an early kilted outing for me, everyone loved the fact that I was wearing the kilt. All I asked for last year was money so that I could buy myself a Prince Charlie, I ended up with enough to buy the P.C. and a dress sporran, so I guess that speaks volumes as to what my family thought of the outfit. This year I think I will wear my Dress MacDonald with my Charcoal Braemer and a Red tie.

Mine was last Christmas. I took the family to spend it with my mother, who had just decided to stop chemo and let nature take its course. Mom is my blood connection to the House of Gordon, and had alway "threatened" to get me a kilt, so she was thrilled that we were all there and in tartan. It was a bittersweet visit to the family farm, our favorite place in the world, because we would all be there for the last time as a "whole" family.
