    Kilted Christmas

My wife and I spent a great Christmas day with family and friends, this was what I was wearing. You can see I finally added a black tie, a semi-formal sporran, and I wore my bottle green hose with black flashes. Everyone loved the look, especially my friend's elderly mother who has a Scottish family history.
Tomorrow we plan to dress up again and take some decent "family" photos of ourselves for next years Christmas cards, but you'll have to wait awhile to see those ones. ;)

    Talking

Well, I'll wear my kilt for new year's eve, but be sure that my style will be th most casual. Surely mountain boots and Glasgow Celtics T-shirt!. I'll wear also my dress sporran, I know that it's not proper for that , but damn, it's so perfect for my black kilt!!

I'll try to hang a photo here!

    ¡Salud!

    Al, what a superb 'look'!

The plain tie is such an improvement but, if I may, I'd like to make one (just one) comment. For the absolutely perfect 'look' I'd say you need to find a plain green woollen tie exactly the same shade as your hose. Whilst I like very much what I see here, you have split yourself in two at the waist! All black above and all green below. A matching green tie would introduce just sufficient 'green' to your top half to break that and to unite both halves.

It is not vital that you follow this suggestion of course, but it would add the icing to an already handsome cake!

    Very nice, Al.

What tartan is that? Is it Irish National?

Thanks for the comments, guys! I really blew everyone away when they saw me yesterday. My mother hasn't seen me totally decked out in a suit since I got married almost 9 years ago. She was stunned to say the least.

Valencian Kilted...looking forward to seeing pics of your New Years eve look.

Avonlea22...yes, that is supposed to be the Irish National tartan. The kilt was made by Chris at Southern Celts when he was still in business. It's the closest I have to a proper "tank". 9 yards of heavy 60/40 wool blend material, sewn-down pleats, heavy leather straps with solid buckles...yeah baby!!! 8-)

Hamish...thank you for your advice on the outfit. I know I can count on you to get the right critique when it's required. I've been on the lookout locally for a bottle green wool tie, but have yet to find one. I may have to expand my search to the online community. I'll try wearing my black hose tonight to reduce the "split in two" at the waist effect. Pics will be posted later.

Email these folks, Al. I know they have wool ties in plain colors.... because I bought mine there.
