I have added a small pocket to men's pants at the waist band a few times for guys, and it shouldn't be that hard to added one to a kilt at the waist band.

I too like a pocket watch better than a wristwatch it looks stylish and for me the larger face is a must.
I have found that it is a simple matter to sew a pocket inside the apron of my kilt to hold the watch and run a chain with a clip type end under my belt and clipped to my kilt to secure it. Q.E.D.! When I wear a waistcoat it then of course resides within the pockets there.

Just make the belt loop larger for a kilt belt or whatever you wear.
I perfer a pocket watch and have been comtemplating a leather pocket for the watch. This is especially for when not wearing a kilt belt. The design I have going in my mind is similar the the pocket show in the link Thunderbolt gave. However, I would make the flap use to close the pocket longer and have it bend backwards. This pocket would go between the inner and outer apron and the flap would inside the kilt. With the flap going over the top of the inner apron, this would keep the pocket from falling out and help in locating the pocket.

I would probably make the pocket section so that it had a couple of layers of leather around the edges to help keep the top of the pocket open.

Or you could be very lazy and find one of the metal clips to replace the leather flap. I don't like this idea because of the probaility that I would stab myself with the metal clip.

I hope this makes some sense. I can see it in my mind but I think it is getting cofused on the way to my fingers.

I have probably added ten pocket watch pockets to kilts. Some were under the apron, some were welted pockets between the side slash pocket and rear pocket, some were just under the waistband. It's not that hard to do. You just need to decide where the watch would be comfortable for you and then cut a hole in your kilt. Scary, but easily doable.

I normally wear a pouch, on my belt, for my watch. It came with the watch.

Here's one I have that works great. The strap just goes around your belt. Swiss Army model, a bit pricey but very good.

I've had a couple pocket watches, and I often think of getting another to carry. But I can't imagine carrying or wearing a Quartz watch.

Is there something anti-kilt in a Quartz watch? If it gives accurate time, is it wrong?

I seem to be missing something here.

OK - I don't own one - I wear a Seiko ProDive Automatic that I got in 1971, it's been re-furbished once, new face, new band, buffed to a new gleam. I like it.

But really, what's wrong with a quartz watch?
