			Native American Kilt.

I have been doing a lot of searching and checked out just about every kilt maker on the web,but never found what im looking for.
There are many tartans that represent different clans, some that represent countrys, military of different nations, and USA Kilts even has a new one for the Firefighters, and many many more, but I have never seen anything that represents the original north america natives that lived on this soil long before Columbus.

So that said, ive decided to make one of my own.
Been doing some research for different kinds of themes, but finding the right kind of material that will hold a pleat is the problem.

Im sure no kilt makers would want to mass produce this type of kilt for lack of people that would wear it,but heres a couple i like, and if i can find the right material im going to sew one up.

 Really like this one:

Hmmmm, isn't it just the woman wearing a skirt in that picture? Personally I find Tommie's idea fascinating and wonderful, but I wonder if traditional Native America styles would work with a kilt, unless it were left unpleated. Then it might very well be a skirt!

So? There were South American tribes where the men wore skirts. They were just pieces of material sewn down the center. Simple, cool garments. I might wear one, if were made like an Amerikilt. I think I'd like that.

I agree with "so," but much has been made in this forum about distinguishing a kilt from a woman's skirt by the pleats. As I recall, Amerikilts do have pleats.

Pieces of cloth hanging over one's groin and posterior, on the other hand, can only be called a loincloth, which is in no way related to a kilt.

No doubt the one to the very right is a woman wearing what looks like a skirt, but most likely just a cloth wrap.

The one in the middle is wearing what looks like something the Spanish wore when they came up from Mexico.
The one to the left is wearing a breachcloth.(known by about twenty other names)

Hey Tommie, do a web serch on Zuni kilt or Navajo kilt if you are interested in more. There's... kilt-like garments. I'm secretly pondering kilts made with an adapted patern from some of the older Dine' paterns, but shhhhh don't tell anyone.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
